Renewing your passport (Persons over 18 years of age)
Your passport expires every 10 years (if there are no restrictions). Please be sure to check that your passport has not expired before you plan to travel.
In order to renew your passport you are required to:
Obtain the relevant application form from:
- the Passport Office
- Police Stations
- Local Councils
- Travel Agencies or
- through our website.
Complete the application Form A clearly and accurately.
Bring the application form together with your
valid ID Card and your current passport. You don’t need to have your application form signed by the recommender,
if you are still recognizable from your previous passport. Return the application form by:
Pay a fee of € 70 on application.
You may collect your passport from our Office after 4 working days, unless we have had to contact you for missing any information.
Renewing your passport (Persons under 18 years of age) A minor’s passport expires every 2 years if the child is aged under 10 years of age, and every 5 years if he/she is aged between 10 and 15. If the child is over 16 but still under 18 years of age, the passport will be issued valid for 10 years.
Please be sure to check that your child’s passport has not expired before you plan to travel. It is advisable to apply for the passport
before your reserve your holiday.
There may be instances were a minor’s passport cannot be issued within 4 working days. This may be due to various restrictions such as Care Orders, Court warrants, restricted parent’s consent or any other special provisions which may be included on Separation Agreements reached between the parents. In these and other similar instances, the passport for a minor
will not be issued unless properly authorised by the competent Courts and/or authorities.
In order to renew a minor’s passport, you are required to:
Obtain the relevant application form from:
- the Passport Office
- Police Stations
- Local Councils
- Travel Agencies or
- through our website.
Complete the application Form A clearly and accurately. Take care to fill in
both Section 7 and Section 8.
Both parents should sign Section 7, while the recommender should also endorse the parent’s signatures on Section 7. The recommender should also sign Section 8 and a photo of your child.
Return the application form to our Office together with your son’s/daughters old passport. You have to bring 2 recent identical coloured photographs of your child (1 of which should be signed by your recommender) taken on a white background and
both parent’s ID Cards. If your child is
6 years or older, you should also bring him/her over with you to the Passport Office to have his/her photo (a facial biometric image) taken at our Office.
You need to bring the photographs signed at the back by the recommender as a proof of the child’s true identity.
If your child is 14 years or over and holds a valid ID Card, no signed photographs are required. In all cases, however,
Sections 7 and 8 of the application Form A
should always be signed by the recommender.
Return the application form by:
- Calling at our Office with both parent’s ID Cards/passports
Pay a fee of € 14 if your child is under 10 years of age, € 35 if he/she is aged between 10 and 15 and € 70 if your child is 16 and over. Applications by post
are not accepted.
You may collect your child’s passport from our Office after 4 working days, unless we have had to contact you for missing any information. Minor’s passport must be collected by either one of the parents,
who must bring both parents’ ID Cards when calling .
